Good posture and
joint health begin where the foot meets the ground!
What are Custom Foot Orthotics?
An orthotic is a supportive device which is placed inside
footwear, to change the mechanical function of the foot. It
works dynamically during weight-bearing activities like walking,
running and standing. Ideally, it should provide full, custom
and corrected arch contact so that the foot works in a bio-mechanically
correct way. To date, Dr. Zajac has found that only Sole
Supports® manufactures full arch contact orthotics. Other
orthotics are either just cushions or give a more generic,
insufficient arch support, and are not customized to your
foot. While other orthotics may feel fine, they fail to actually
correct faulty foot mechanics and will not prevent the usual
painful deformities or syndromes.
That's why Dr. Zajac has been trained and certified in the
use of Sole Supports® custom foot orthotics. Only Sole Supports®
uses a revolutionary casting technique which repeatedly captures
the true arch your feet should have, and gauges the shell
thickness of the custom orthotics - to patient weight and
foot flexibility. Many other companies' orthotics are very
rigid and consequently quite uncomfortable and interfere with
normal foot biomechanics.
What
kinds of problems can result from faulty foot mechanics?
Pain and deformity can arise in the feet such as bunions,
plantar fasciitis, corns and hammertoes. Because foot function
affects the entire musculoskeletal chain leading to the spine,
pain and dysfunction in the knee, hip and low back often result
as well. In all there are over thirty common diagnoses related
to poor foot control.
Can problems be prevented or corrected with the use of
foot orthotics?
Yes. If the problem is discovered early enough, pain and deformity
can often be prevented. Regular use of these unique orthotics
can often reverse deformity development, or at least prevent
surgery. Dr. Zajac, through the use of these custom orthotics,
helps patients to restore normal function and give the body
what it needs to heal itself. For most patients, significant
relief is experienced within weeks of regular use.
Are
you and athlete, or simply someone who wants to perform at
their peak?
If you are active in running, basketball, tennis or volleyball,
you need increased support to balance and stabilize your body
from the feet up. Custom foot orthotics will increase your
efficiency with every step you take! Custom orthotics reduce
impact shock stress from common surfaces such as concrete,
asphalt and tile floors. Orthotics decrease the loading forces
placed upon the ankle, knee and hip joints and even into the
spine.
Remember, custom foot orthotics are for anyone
who wants to make an investment in good postural and joint
health. Come in today and ask Dr. Zajac if orthotics will
help you.
